To all of our wonderful patrons who have purchased tickets for West Side Story this weekend:
We are so very sorry to have to announce that we are canceling the remainder of our performances. As you undoubtedly know, the Coronavirus is sweeping through our country and is also transmitted before people have any symptoms or even know they’re sick, resulting in a prolific rate of transmission. We are now increasingly being advised to avoid crowds and gatherings and to stay home as much as possible. We have been closely monitoring the local circumstances, as well as seeing what actions similar performing arts venues have been taking. Therefore, out of an abundance of caution, and under advisement of the California Department of Education, we must cancel in an effort to protect our students, our staff, and the greater community. Our cast and crew have worked so very hard on this beautiful show—kudos to all of them! We are of course devastated to have to cancel, but we must prioritize all of our safety. At this time, we cannot speculate the possibility of rescheduling the show(s) to a later date, though we will certainly update you should that opportunity arise.
Theatre at the Mount is a 501(c)3, and our program is self-funded through fundraisers and ticket sales. The money for this show has already been spent. With that in mind, we would appreciate it if you would thoughtfully consider donating your ticket purchase to our program (though please do not feel pressured to do so). We covet your generosity and support of our program, and more importantly, our students. If you wish to donate the cost of your ticket purchase, no action is needed on your part. You simply need not request a refund.
With that said, refunds are available by clicking on the “View and Manage Your Order” link at the bottom of your digital tickets. Please note that if you want your refund applied directly to the debit or credit card you used to purchase your tickets, you have until midnight on Sunday, March 15 to do so. After this time, you can email email@example.com (Subject: WSS REFUND REQUEST) and a check can be picked up in our front office or mailed to you. If we do not receive a refund request by Friday, March 20, we will thankfully assume that you have generously donated your ticket cost to our program.
